My initial interest in the Camino began after reading a book by Paulo Coelho, "The Pilgrimage" and the seed was planted on fertile ground. I then read Shirley MacLaine's book, "The Camino" and the seed grew. I then happened across the movie "The Way" and that was when I decided the time was NOW! And we started to save for the trip. Little by little I purchased what would be needed. Backpack, boots, guidebook, socks, undies, moisture wicking clothing, etc... Prior to my trip, I used many tools to help me decide what to bring, when to go, what sites to see, where to stay. There are many excellent resource. Here are some books I used.

To the Field of Stars: A Pilgrim's Journey to Santiago de Compostela by Kevin A. Codd --- a memoir
Booking.com was great for getting rooms for the time we were not on the Camino, prior when we went to Lisbon, Fatima, Braga and in Madrid for after the Camino before flying back home to the States.
